Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae)

Here is another photo that was shot on film a number of years ago.  This is the Bird of Paradise flower (Strelitzia reginae).  This plant is native to South Africa, but the one here was photographed in our garden in Hawaii.

I didn't know they were native to So. Africa. How interesting. Beautiful photo.

@ Dewdrop - Thank you. I think it's interesting, too.

@ Becky & Gary - I only discovered its South African origins recently. They are so popular here in Hawaii, it was hard to believe they originated elsewhere.

These do rather well here in Florida, and are very popular. A friend who lives in Southern California also grows them.

Hi Tink -

I guess they are very popular in a lot of tropical and sub-tropical areas then. Thanks for the info.

One of my favorite flowers. You'll find these a lot here around L.A. They use them a lot around office buildings and restaurants.

Beautiful flower well shot.

Tip : next time around you want to shoot with the sunlight coming behind your shoulder wherein the blown out details can be minimized. Just an observation

@ 2sweet - Okay, we'll add L.A. area to the places where this plant thrives.

@ Thomas - Thank you very much.
