Black-headed Grosbeak (Pheucticus melanocephalus)
Location: Tucson, Arizona, USA
While I was in Arizona in February, I saw many birds that we don't see here in Hawaii. This one is a male Black-headed Grosbeak (Pheucticus melanocephalus). I was told that this species is common in the western Unites States. I saw him in Tucson, and he was kind enough to pose for me.

That's a beautiful bird!
I just love observing, listening (I try to learn all bird sounds) and photographing birds. Hoping I will get a new zoom lens today =D
Lovely shot, I have been bird watching since I could walk, as my dad and grandad are both bird nuts.
Although I was forced into birdwatching as a kid, I now really enjoy seeing great bird photography :)
Nice capture of the bird !
Great colours and they looked really tame and friendly towards humans !
Probably one day, they would be much closer to you and allowing you to take closer photos !
@ Thomas - Thank you. Did you say you're getting a new zoom lens today? Do tell! I know you've been wishing for a longer lens (and so have I!).
@ Claire - Thanks. I guess I'd fit right in with your dad and grandfather, because I'm a bird nut, too.
@ Jinghui - Thank you. I agree, this one has very nice colors. I think what I need for closer shots is a longer lens, but of course tamer birds would help, too.

Lovely image, the colours are beautiful. My father is the bird watcher in the family... not me I am afraid!
Great picture! I haven't seen one like that.
The official title is a twitcher, do you use that over there?
@ Craig - Thank you. Now get out there with your father and start watching more birds. ;-}
@ 2Sweet - I hadn't seen this one before, either, but I like him.
@ Claire - Twitcher? Nope, hadn't heard that one, but it's quite descriptive.
