Princess Michiko Hibiscus

Princess Michiko Hibiscus

Ruby Tuesday
Princess Michiko Hibiscus
Location:  Kohala Coast, Big Island, Hawaii

This is the Princess Michiko hibiscus, another of the 28 varieties of hibiscus in my garden.  Most of our hibiscus varieties bloom continuously, but the Princess Michiko only blooms now and then (like the Ecstasy hibiscus, which I posted back in April).  The Princess Michiko blossom is much more complex than most hibiscus flowers.

Now that is a flower I could fall in love with. I clicked around and looked at some of your pictures and I think you have a lot of talent.

I love Hawaii and its gardens you are so lucky to be able to grow all those different plants.

PS. Nice to see a fellow Nikon user

Bobbie..thank you SO much for visiting my blog. I read your intro and your photos are fantastic. I was interested in your equipment as I am only a point and shoot with a Canon S2 IS, but just got a Rebel xis or the Canon EOS..what ever it is. But 50 is late to start something, but I am enjoying it..I just need to learn the basics and keep plugging along.

Can't wait to see your underwater photography. My husband just got dive certified to do under water rescue, but his views so far are of Lake Erie. LOL

Beautiful photo!

I'm only familiar with the hibiscus we have here in California. Usually red, sometimes a peachy-orange or white. Your's it's very different. Thank you for sharing it.

Thank you all so much for visiting my first Ruby Tuesday post. It's been so much fun to read your comments.

@ Michelle - I use all Nikon camera equipment, both on land and underwater, but your Canon Digital Rebel should serve you well. The best advice I can give is to shoot A LOT -- every chance you get. Practice makes perfect.

Oh Bobbie, I've never seen an hibiscus like this one! It's absolutely gorgeous! Your Ruby Tuesday badge DOES link back to me at my blog "Work of the Poet" and that's fine. You don't have to sign up just post something red on Tuesday and sign in to Mr. Linky. Glad to have you! :)

@ JoAnn - Sorry, I don't know any agents or anything like that, but I still think your photo looks like it could be a book cover.

@ WillThink4Wine -- Yes, we really have 28 varieties of hibiscus -- and we have several plants of a number of those. My husband is the gardener in the family. He's the one who 'collects' hibiscus varieties -- and takes good care of them.

@ Mary - Thanks. After I visited a few people's RT posts I figured things out, so I edited the post to include a link to your site from the RT badge.

I think this is probably the prettiest hibiscus I've ever seen! You did a great job capturing it.
