New Zealand's Earl Mountains

Earl Mountains
Location:  Fiordland, South Island, New Zealand

Sky Watch Friday

Here is another photo from our trip to New Zealand's South Island last year. This is a view of the inland side of a range called the Earl Mountains.  The photo was taken from a hiking trail near the road that goes from Te Anau to Milford Sound in the Fiordland National Park.

Although it had rained steadily the day before, on this day the sky was a pristine blue.  Some puffy cumulus clouds were hugging the very tops of the mountains, partially hiding the fingers of melting snow near the peaks.

Beautiful! New Zealand is on my list of favourite countries to visit. With the great air, scenery and nice people, I've yet to come across anyone that didn't enjoy their trip to New Zealand.

I must say i love your mountain picture, although mountains make me feel quite claustrophobic (a side effect of growing up in the midwest and wide open corn fields) -- but what I really love is the picture of your lupines. I long for summer already!

Absolutely gorgeous! Love the clouds hovering around the top of the mountain like that. One of the cool things about rain is how blue the sky is the day after.

What an amazing view! Love the colours and the details.

@ 2Sweet - Right you are about the clear blue sky after a rainy day.

@ Craig - Thanks. That's a nice compliment coming from you, since you do landscape photography so well.
