'Painted Lady' Hibiscus
Location: Kohala Coast, Big Island, Hawaii
'Painted Lady' is the name of this cultivar of tropical hibiscus. We have several bushes of this variety in our garden. Each blossom lasts only for a day, but the plant blooms year round in our climate.

Beautiful image of teh Hibiscus. Cool colors and details.
That's a gorgeous hibiscus. I like the white in it. Great shot (as usual). :-)
Answering your question about the goose, I was kind of close (about 20-25 ft), but still zoomed in on it.
Oh Bobbie, that is so beautiful! I have 2 plants one red and the other pink. The Japanese beetles ate the pink one last year and I got no flowers. The red one right beside it was gorgeous. Go figure!

Hi Bobbie
Skunk cabbage. Hum, It is a plant that first appears in the early spring in wet areas like woods and swamps. Although the actual " flowers" are deep inside the sheath like leaves, they only attract insects, and if the leaves are disturbed it emits a skunk like odor. We have several on our property. Not sure where it gets it's cabbage name. LOL
@ T and S - Thank you.
@ 2Sweet - Thanks. I figured you had been pretty close to that goose to get such great shots.
@ Becky - So sorry to hear those nasty beetles got your hibiscus. Some of ours are being attacked by gall mite right now. :-(
And thanks for the info on skunk cabbage. Judging from the photo on your blog, it looks nicer than it smells! LOL.
Bobbie
