New Growth on a Neem Tree

Neem (Azadirachta indica)

Neem (Azadirachta indica)
Location: Kohala Coast, Big Island, Hawaii

One morning while I was walking around in my garden taking photos of flowers, I noticed some new growth on one of our Neem trees.  I thought the branchlet, with its tender young translucent leaves, was as worthy a photo subject as the flowers.

this fresh green reminds me of spring!

Hi Lara - It does have a spring-like look to it, but this tree sprouts new growth periodically all year long, not just in spring.

Neem is a great species - I never knew it grew n hawaii as well! Lovely tint, the new leaves!

I like new leaves, especially when they're red and have to grow into being green. Nice shot.

@ Leora - Thanks.

@ Gardenia - Yes, we have neem in Hawaii. It's a beautiful tree, and all of its parts are useful -- the wood, the oil, the leaves. We have at ten or twelve around our garden (I've lost count!).

@ 2Sweet - Thanks. I love newly sprouted things, too.
